Five Crowns and Les Dames d'Escoffier

What a pleasure it was spending an evening with Les Dames d’Escoffier board members and dozens of members at the Five Crowns restaurant in Newport Beach. Some were out of states visiting Southern California in order to explore potential places for Les Dames d’Escoffier 2017 National Conference.

Chef Steven Kling and the entire team of Five Crowns spoiled us from the beginning till the end. We started with prohibition-inspired cocktails accompanied with hors-d’oeuvres in a candle lit lounge room. Then we moved to the outdoor patio where heaters kept the atmosphere warm while we enjoyed a three courses dinner under the stars. We started with a family style first course which included Cobio Crudo, Vegetable Fritto Misto and Red Leaf Salad. Next, 3 main entrees to choose from Short Ribs, Scottish Salmon or Wild Mushroom Linguine. Finally, a dessert course with Meyer Lemon Steamcake or Apple Beignet. To accompany this gourmet dinner, our table selected a wonderful Pinot Noir from Hahn.

The evening ended up too quickly, as we all had a great time, developing new friendships through a well-organized evening. Can’t wait till our next Les Dames meeting and going back to this great restaurant that I highly recommend!
